Grappler Type J offers 12 models for both spinning and baitcasting which cater to most jigging situations. The newly designed blank comes with the high end features such as Spiral X and Hi Power X, both of which are very rare for this price range. In addition to being light, strong and unwavering during fish fights, the spinning model with PE 8 and baitcasting models with PE 6, 7 and 8 are equipped with double-footed MN guides. Rubber gimbals are used on PE 6 and 7 rods while metal gimbals are used for PE rated rods, making it suitable for targeting big game fish.
Long Front Grip
Easy to grip and apply force
The front grip is designed to be longer for fighting with the rod end against the belly. The tapered design enhances gripping power and supports stable fighting, while at the same time reducing fatigue. Adopted for spinning series and baits B56-6, B56-7, and B53-8.

A must-have for big fights
Equipped on heavy-spec rods. Metal gimbals are standard on the B53-8 and S53-8, where more power fighting is expected, and rubber gimbals are standard on the 6 and 7 power models. Synergistic effect with the Long Front Grip minimizes angler fatigue.
Locknut to prevent loosening
Double locks secure the reel
The screw that holds the reel in place is additionally equipped with aLocknut to prevent loosening, improving the reel's holding power. Adopted for 2-5 power spinning reels.
Ocean Guide
A must-have for big fights
The S53-8, B56-6, B56-7, and B53-8, which are subject to heavy loads, are equipped with double foot & Ocean Guides for superior strength. Suitable for deep-range fishing, heavy jigs, fighting with large fish, etc.
Fuji TCS
Adopted for bait 3-5 power.
Fuji PSS
Adopted for bait 6-8 power.

Tapered grip for less fatigue even when gripped for long periods of time. It has more grip than the flat type and contributes to a stable fight.
TECHNOLOGY
SPIRAL X
Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano's patented Spiral X construction enhances catching power for anglers. Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a middle layer of vertical fibers as well as inner and outer layers, both comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fiber sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced compression rigidity and increased torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates instant power transmission for precise casting and fish fighting.
HI-POWER X
Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.
